Cheney threatens legislators

The sickening news generated by the White House just comes out so blindingly fast that's it's just plain work to keep up with all the criminality, but here's one more dumb move:

Not that it's any big surprise, but apparently VP Dick "Halliburton is not a Briefcase" Cheney is threatening, and in person, legislators including Senators McCain, Graham and Warner. Said elected representatives are trying to come up with some sort of rational plan to investigate the torture incidents at Gitmo and other spots along the gulag archipeligo.

He's told them, in essence, that if they go forward with any kind of investigation of prisoner abuse the Preeez will veto next year's Defense Department budget! WTF?

General refuses to discipline guards

The LA Times reported Thursday that Army Major General Geoffrey Miller has refused to discipline the guards responsible for several incidents of prisoner abuse, including the ladies’ underwear episode.

Like I said: military discipline down the shithole.

Corrected Update: Actually, it was the good Major General's superior, Gen. Bantz J. Craddock, who refused to discipline the former commander of interrogation at Gitmo, saying that he (Maj Gen Miller, a notorious torturer) hadn't violated any US policies or laws.

Actually, any way you slice it, nobody's getting disciplined except the two or three "bad apples," and they're just grunts, following orders.
